PRINCE2® Foundation Exam

The PRINCE2® Foundation qualification is the first of two PRINCE2® qualifications required to become a PRINCE2® Practitioner. An aspirant could complete PRINCE2® Foundation and gain insight to a comprehensive introduction to PRINCE2® via APMG's and various other accredited organization’s PRINCE2 Foundation computer based training course or a PRINCE2® Foundation tutor led classroom course. The PRINCE2® Foundation exam comprises of 75 Multiple-choice questions for duration of one hour and with a minimum requirement to answer at least 35 of those 70 questions right in order to pass. Here, 5 questions would be trial and not counted in scores. Also unlike the practitioner it is a Closed-book exam.

The PRINCE2® FOUNDATION EXAM hopes to measure whether an aspirant is capable to be a part of the project management team using the PRINCE2® methodology within a project environment supporting PRINCE2®. It becomes apparent that the aspirant must be able to understand the principles and terminology of the PRINCE2® method, describe the purpose and major content of all roles, the seven principles, the seven themes and the seven processes. Moreover they should be able to state the main purpose, and key contents, of the major management products; identify the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a project and finally identify which management products are input to, and output from the seven processes.

  • Project Team Managers or members who will work or support PRINCE2® projects

The subject matter (PRINCE2® Foundation) begins by exploring the increasing importance of projects in today’s world before discussing what a project is, why projects fail and what the role of the project manager is. The PRINCE2® Foundation exam is open to anyone who is required to manage a project as part of their job and wishes to understand how to organize the project in a way that increases its chances of success. Recent graduates, people with 1-2 years of project experience, people seeking a career change and those seeking advancement will benefit the most from the foundation exam.
